I can't believe that you don't know what a conductor does :) Anyway, this conductor conducts literally everything :) In Poland we say that someone "conducts others"" or "conducts everything", and it is witty, as an idiom, and at the same time a pejorative term for a person, who wants too much to control everyone and everything, gives orders, and wants everything to be the way he wants it. I think that the audience from the very beginning caught all the jokes related to the conductor understood much more broadly than simply the funny orchestra conductor.

Trust me Rob i like your job but These cabarets haven't made us laugh for a long time in Poland, they're boring🤮. GM and Krosny could have been funny 20 years ago. Now it sucks. GM hasn't made us laugh for a long time, so don't bother reacting to it. These cabarets are not timeless like KMM or AMM and many other really serious and noteworthy ones. Rob, thank you for reminding me my "studniówka" ball. "Studniówka" can be translated like "100 days ball" - and it is organised 100 days before high school exams, which are very important and decide about future studies etc... This ball always starts with Polonez dance - and in my case - 30 years ago it was Polonez Ogińskiego. Although this ball starts with Polonez dance in a very official way it ends very informally and sometimes quite crazy... My Polonez wasn't that complicated, it took some time to prepare the choreography but it wasn't long. I don't remember how long my Polonez lasted - probably a few minutes. I think that people dancing on the film are stressed and concentrated because they want to dance correctly and they are watched by their teachers and parents. I can recommend you the composer Wojciech Kilar who composed this Polonez, he also composed a lot of classical and film music. One of my favoured is "Victoria" composed for 300 anniversary of battle of Vienna where the Polish king Jan III Sobieski won with Turks and stopped their invasion to Europe. The first performance was when John Paul II was in Poland in 1983. You can clearly hear there running horses and sounds of battle. Thank you for nice film!

A little bit of history. Janusz Rewiński was a member of the Sejm during the first term. It's counted from the end of the communist rule in Poland (currently we have the tenth term of Sejm). The first term was a little wild. From the second them and onward a political party need to get 5% of votes in the election, to have deputies in Sejm. That wasn't the case with the first term. There were 29 (twenty nine!) parties. Ultimately it fell apart because some deputies wanted to reveal which politicians were working for Służba Bezpieczeństwa (Security Service, a communist secret police) and other similar institution, while others (including the then-president Lech Wałęsa or current prime minister Donald Tusk) didn't.

That was a different level of actors there. A first class. You wouldn't see corpsing there as they were too professional for it. Wonderful kabaret with simple yet thought provoking sketches... And well done for reading between the lines and seeing there was a link to the communism and life in those times despite not knowing as much about it as us, Poles.

You can read Pilecki's Reports describing his stay and escape from Auschwitz.
